Beta Gamma Lambda has facilitated a mentoring program at George Washington Carver Elementary School in Richmond, “7 Leaders, 7 Scholars”, for the past four years. Here, we have targeted 4th and 5th grade students to establish a foundation for academic success and effective leadership skills. This program is building upon the foundation established at George Washington Carver Elementary School. We do this with the hopes of preparing Albert Hill students for high school, the fraternity’s Young Achievers and Leadership Development programs for high school students, and life in general. The relationship that is formed between the boys and the men of Alpha Phi Alpha can be a lasting and positive one. The opportunity is available to continue to build upon each year as the boys matriculate through middle school and beyond.
